PRIME MINISTER CHECKS ON WORK AT EXPOCUBA AHEAD OF FIHAV 2022

The Member of the Political Bureau and Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, checked the current situation of the Expocuba fairgrounds with a view to the Havana International Fair FIHAV 2022, scheduled to take place in November. In the exchange, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo, ministers and representatives of agencies, Marrero Cruz urged to develop a legal regulation on the institution which includes the responsibility of the agencies and the annual plan to take care of the site in a differentiated way.

He referred to the deterioration of the facility and proposed evaluating sustainable ways to guarantee transport to the site. He pointed out that culture and recreation are key to Expocuba.

“We have to find a way for the family to come here to spend the day, so that we have a gastronomic offer between the private and state sectors where people know that they will have lunch and a good lunch, at a fair price. We should rescue and even expand the recreational facilities, many of which are at a standstill.
“The cultural offer will be the main attraction. This is a space for any cultural manifestation”.

At the meeting, the head of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, explained that to date 25 countries have confirmed their presence at the Fair. He said that the update of the Portfolio of Opportunities and the Single Window for Foreign Investment would be presented.
“We are at an acceptable level of participation but we are intensifying the management, authorities from different countries are still forming at the level of Ministers, Undersecretaries and all this gives a level to the Fair”.

For her part, Lidercy Gonzáles, director of Expocuba, explained that with a view to the Havana International Fair, the installation has been preparing for months and as a strategy they have concentrated their efforts on the main problems.

“Today we have contracted a Local Development Project that is painting the Central Pavilion and carrying out some repairs, and with our own efforts we are working on other activities that the Central Pavilion also requires”.

Jorge Luis Pérez Llerandy, General Director of the Organising Company of Congresses, Fairs and Exhibitions, Grupo Palco, spoke at the meeting about the revitalisation of spaces and the need to promote and raise the level of excellence of gastronomy at Expocuba.
